What genes are you wearing?

Ok, so you could be bored out of your brain reading this……..or find it really quite fascinating. I am of the latter, I am amazed at the complexity of how God created us….

Dominant Gene ---- Recessive Gene

Dark hair ---- Blond hair
Non-red hair ---- Red hair
Curly hair ---- Straight hair
Abundant body hair ---- Little body hair
Early baldness in men ---- Normal
Normal sweat glands ---- Few sweat glands
Brown eyes ---- Blue or grey eyes
Hazel or green eyes ---- Blue or grey eyes
Free ear lobes ---- Attached ear lobes
Broad lips ---- Thin lips
Large eyes ---- Small eyes
Long eyelashes ---- Short eyelashes
High, narrow bridge of nose ---- Low, broad nose

Eye colour is determined by the amount of brown pigment known as melanin that is present in the iris of the eye. If there is a large quantity of melanin present on the front surface of the iris, the eyes are dark.
Without a large amount of melanin on the front surface of the iris, the eyes will appear as blue, not because of a blue pigment but because blue light is reflected from the iris. The iris appears blue for the same reason that deep bodies of water appear blue - there is no blue pigment in the water, but blue wavelengths of light are returned to the eye from the water. People appear to have blue eyes because the blue wavelengths of light are reflected from the iris.
Colours such as green, grey and hazel are also produced by varying amounts of melanin in the iris. If a very small amount of melanin is present in the iris, the eye appears green, whereas slightly larger amounts of melanin produce hazel eyes.
Several different genes are probably involved in determining the quantity and placement of the melanin, and therefore determining eye colour.

So now you are enleyetened!
